As people are becoming more environmentally conscious, minimising waste and pollution is ideal. The retail sectors are on the move to get rid of paper recieptsto help our climate with ‘BEAT THE RECEIPT‘ movement!

The substance used in about 50% of paper receipts are toxic to us and the environment which is not beneficial to anyone. With that being said, more and more retailers are shifting towards digital reciepts.

As we are saying goodbye to these toxic paper in contributing to positive changes that help our climate goals. This creates great opportuntities for retailers in getting to know more about thier customers. How? saying goodbye to print out receipts, and saying hello to more e-mail addresses and phone numbers being collected with sending out digital receipts!

What can retailers do to utilise this trend in digital marketing prespective?

With the e-mails addresses stored in the systems, retailers are able to put data to use. Through such a simple way, just by collecting e-mails it can enable a greater understanding of customer segments. Additionally, also creates another platform for communicating with the audience, via e-mail marketing.

With such a small step of helping out the environment and creating positive changes. There is also a positive drive to increase the data used to track and analyse customers simply by getting their e-mail addresses in the first place! It’s a win-win situation.

Utilising electric receipts to send through varies promotions or coupons to drive more transactions. 70% of the time customers do use discount codes in their transaction by finding out the information from e-mail. Using e-mails can create greater chances of customers returning as we now have a platform to let them know of any loyalty or referral programs existing. Further collecting data to track and analyse the pool of existing buyers of the brand.
